Privacy & cookies
What this site measures, what the contact and booking forms collect, and how you stay in control.

The short version
yaj.net is a personal portfolio and consulting site. The only analytics it uses is Google Analytics 4 (GA4), and only to understand how the site is used so it can be improved. There is no advertising on this site, and no advertising or remarketing data is collected or shared. Analytics cookies and identifiers stay off until you accept it.
Your consent controls analytics
This site uses Google Consent Mode v2 in its advanced configuration. In practice that means the Google tag loads on each visit but starts with analytics storage denied: no Google Analytics cookies are written and no analytics identifiers are stored until you choose Accept in the cookie banner.
You should know that while consent is denied, the Google tag may still send limited cookieless pings to Google (for example, the consent state itself and basic, non-identifying measurement signals). These do not set cookies on your device and do not build a profile of you. If you click Reject, or simply ignore the banner, no Google Analytics cookies are ever set.
You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer. Accepting after a prior rejection turns analytics on; rejecting after a prior acceptance withdraws consent and turns it back off.
Cookies this site uses
- analytics_consent (first-party): remembers your Accept or Reject choice so the banner does not ask again. It stores only a single flag plus a version number, lasts up to 180 days, and is not used for tracking.
- Google Analytics cookies (for example
_gaand_ga_*): set by GA4 only after you accept. They distinguish visitors and sessions to produce aggregate usage statistics.
What GA4 collects, and how it is configured
When enabled, GA4 collects standard, aggregate usage data such as pages viewed, approximate location derived from network information, device and browser type, and how visitors navigate the site. This property is configured to minimize data collection:
- Google Signals is turned off, so no cross-device or advertising-based reporting is enabled.
- Advertising and remarketing signals are always set to denied.
- GA4 does not log or store individual IP addresses; IP information is used transiently for coarse geolocation and then discarded.
- Data retention is set to the minimum practical period.
Google processes this data as described in Google’s Privacy Policy. You can also install Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on to opt out of GA across all sites.
Contact and booking forms
When you reach out through the contact form or the booking form, this site stores your submission so that Jay can respond. That includes your name, email address, and message, along with any company, timezone, or booking details you provide. A copy of each inquiry is also emailed to the site owner so it can be handled, and the IP address and browser user agent of the request are recorded to help prevent spam and abuse.
Inquiry data is kept under a manual retention policy. The site-controlled inquiry record is deleted after about 90 days; the IP address and user agent are cleared sooner, after about 30 days. These steps are done by hand rather than on an automatic schedule.
You can ask for your inquiry data to be deleted at any time by emailing [email protected]. Requests are handled on receipt and cover the inquiry records and any queued copies this site controls; a notification email sent to the site owner is deleted where possible, though copies retained by the email provider may persist under their own controls.
